As government systems increasingly rely on algorithms and AI, the human dimension is disappearing. With all the consequences that entails. With my series Crossed Out I want the viewer to experience the feeling of powerlessness, despair and the consequences of the childcare allowance affair on a human level so that people become aware of the personal consequences of this affair, and look more critically at the use of algorithms within the government. With this I also want to show that it is not unthinkable that this can happen to anyone, and that the chance that this situation will repeat itself is lurking.
